Nature/Essence – Strong & Stimulating
Camphor is a pungent decongestant and antimicrobial, used as an inhalation or in a chest rub to help ease tight coughs, nasal, sinus or chest congestion, and open up the airways. Used in a balm it helps with joint and muscle pain and stimulates circulation to ease stiffness. Its analgesic properties are also useful for neuralgia.
Camphor is used as an insect repellent to repel moths in closets and when storing clothes and blankets (Camphor chests, made from Camphor wood, were used to store and transport tea and fabrics from China).
