Description
Cetostearyl alcohol also known as cetearyl alcohol or cetylstearyl alcohol is a mixture of fatty alcohols, consisting of cetyl and stearyl alcohols. It stabilises emulsions, enhances viscosity and consistency (adds body and thickness), has foam boosting properties and acts as a co-emulsifier.
It imparts an emollient feel to the skin and can be used in water-in-oil emulsions, oil-in-water emulsions, and anhydrous (oil only) formulations. It is also commonly used in hair conditioners and other hair products.
Cetostearyl Alcohol has a non-ionic charge with an HLB of 15.5.
